What I am Working On : Gallery and Secret Amigurumi
Updated: 3/20/16
This week has all been a bit of a blur. The time change threw me for a loop for two reasons: (1) Even though I’d been reminded about it by my mom several times, I still managed to forget last night that I was losing an hour; and (2) I was so excited about the new Gallery I’m putting together for my website and blog, that I stayed up until 1:00am (really 2:00am with the time change) to work on it!
That meant, since I get up at 6:00am every morning, I had only four hours to sleep. Basically, a glorified nap. The lack of sleep was well worth it, because that time allowed me to get the “Amigurumi” section for my Gallery finished!
Today I began taking pictures of my sketchbook for the a “Sketchbook” section I plan to include. I will also have a section for the illustrations from my story, Adeline and the Mystic Berries, as well as one of completed “Portfolio” pieces.
This Gallery will be kept up to date with new pieces as I finish them!
Aside from the work I’m putting in on the Gallery page, I am also continuing work on the A to Z Challenge blog posts for April. My plan is to have them all completed before April, so I make sure never to miss a post.
My dad’s illustration has had some progress made, though not as much as I had hoped. The reason is because I spent several days this week beginning a project I plan to pitch for a new amigurumi book of patterns. I am very excited about this project, but at this point, it is going to be kept hush-hush. I may post some in progress teaser pictures here and there, but overall, I cannot divulge my secrets!
The March Giveaway of one completed Amigurumi Happy Sunflower just ended, and the winner is Jennifer S. Congratulations!
That is it for this week! This coming week promises to be filled with more coloring, crochet, writing, and hopefully a brand new Gallery to show you all for next Monday’s post on “What I am Working On.”
Update: 3/20/16
First I want to talk about my Gallery! I decided to call it Portfolio, because it really houses all the work I’ve done over the years, in one easy to access location. Oh yeah, and it’s live! Did I forget to mention that?
I spent so much time last week getting my Portfolio page ready-to-go, I lost count of how many hours it actually took to complete. All my effort paid off, and I am so pleased with how it turned out!
I decided, as a separate page, I would make one called Sketchbook. I wanted to give my sketchbook its own page, because sketchbooks notoriously grow faster than any portfolio of finished projects ever could. I deemed that it had enough content to go solo.
Please, don’t hesitate to leave your comments below, and let me know what you think of my work!
Writing-wise, I am nearly done with all 26 posts for April’s A to Z Blogging Challenge. I’ve gotten down to the ones that include projects I’m teaching or providing patterns for, which always take more time to put together. Only two left and then, I’m ready for April!
On a side note, I’ve made great progress on my secret project as well! I crocheted one character up, found he wasn’t quite right, and made him a second time. Now, I’m very pleased with the results.
The nice side benefit though, is that I’ve already tested my pattern, having made it twice now! When writing your own patterns, you’d be surprised how many mistakes can still make their way into the final PDF. There are times when I’ve tested a pattern on numerous occasions, only to have crafters who are making them, point out the small mistakes I had missed. Just like in writing, your mind can fill in the gaps when it’s your own work.
With the first character done, I’m on to the next this week! I wish I could say more and share more photos, but as I said, it’s a secret…for now.
