Crochet Now! Magazine & Whimsy

Whimsy & Flit have made their way to the UK!
When I reached out to various crochet magazines to see if they’d help me spread the word about WISHWEAVER and my crocheted Whimsy & Flit, I had no idea the response I would get, nor how wonderful they’d be to work with!
Crochet Now! magazine, was one of the top on my list. It has such a beautiful layout of patterns, and best of all, they always feature amigurumi (plush toys made by crocheting in the round) in every issue!
They are “The UK’s No.1 Magazine for Crochet Patterns”, and I was lucky enough to be featured in Issue 59 on sale August 20th! The article has an interview with me, a review of the book, and the full pattern for both the Whimsy + Flit amigurumi!
Here is what the magazine editor, Jenny Conduit, says about the issue:
The sun may still be shining (and beating down in most places!) but that doesn’t mean we can’t start getting excited for the cooler seasons when crochet is the squiggliest thing to do! Get ready for autumn (and, dare we say it, CHRISTMAS?!) with our new-season issue, packed with mindful makes for you. With issue 59, both print and digital copies, readers will receive an exclusive Stylecraft pattern book and, my personal favourite, an official pattern card to crochet Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and Woodstock from the Peanuts comic strip – eep!
The pattern is written in UK terms. Here is the breakdown of what the differences are between the US/Canada crochet terms and the UK according to the Crafty Yarn Council.
Abbreviation & Term Differences between the U.S., United Kingdom (U.K.) and Canada.
U.S./Canada | U.K. |
---|---|

Here is the Interview & Book Review in Issue 59:
I’m so excited that I was given permission to share the article portion of the feature with you! Here we go:
For the pattern, you’ll have to grab a copy of the magazine when it comes out on August 20th!
Crochet Now 59 is on sale from 20th August in shops across the UK. To find your nearest stockist, visit www.seymour.co.uk – or order online from www.moremags.com/crocheting and www.craftstash.co.uk
You can also purchase a digital edition of the magazine via the PocketMags app.
One more thing, when the book comes out on Sept. 1, I will be sharing the pattern for Whimsy + Flit in US terms with all of you, for FREE, right here on Ink & Stitches! You’ll also see it as a free pattern on Ravelry & LoveCrafts.
If you are new to crochet, or crocheting amigurumi specifically, or you want to work alongside me, I will also be having a 13-part crochet along series of videos where I share making both Whimsy + Flit from start to finish on Ink & Stitches YouTube! Here is the video breakdown:
I broke them up like this, because I think it’s easier to watch videos that are less than 15 minutes long (most being 6-10 minutes), than to see a video that is 1-2 hours in length.
Most of us don’t have time to sit down and work straight through. Hopefully, this will give you a better sense of accomplishment as you finish each of the 13 videos in the time that you do have to crochet.
Are you excited to make Whimsy + Flit?
